The CEA Alliance welcomed movement on the farm bill following release of the legislative text of the Rural Prosperity and Food Security Act of 2024 by Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.
“The indoor farming industry has grown by leaps and bounds since the 2018 Farm Bill and we are grateful that both the House and Senate versions of the farm bill seek to ensure that USDA has the tools and resources it needs to help the industry grow and thrive,” said Tom Stenzel, Executive Director for the CEA Alliance.
“We recognize that the only viable path for passing a farm bill in this Congress is through bipartisan collaboration. We hope that the release of the text of the Rural Prosperity and Food Security Act by Chairwoman Stabenow brings us closer to passing a full 5-year bill during the Lame Duck Congress,” added Stenzel.
In September, the CEA Alliance sent a letter to the House and Senate Agriculture Committees reintegrating the indoor produce industry’s priorities for the farm bill.
